My name is Evie Daws, and I am an artist from East Sussex who specialises in portraits. Every face, whether human or animal, is special and unique. But one of the most important parts of being a portrait artist is making sure I capture my subject’s personality, alongside their physical appearance. Often, I find it helpful to be told a bit about them, and it can be really useful to see a variety of reference photos before I begin my creative process.
Other than drawing and painting, I like going on long walks near the sea or in the countryside. In this incredibly busy and noisy modern world, I feel exceptionally lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country. I find taking the time to enjoy nature helps me relax, and I feel it also brings me closer to my art work.
